Setting Up MFA and Managing Your Drury Password

Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator for MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication)

Microsoft Authenticator adds an essential layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of verification. Follow these steps to set it up on your mobile device.

Before You Begin: Download the App

  • Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your device's app store. It's available for both iOS and Android. You can find it at https://aka.ms/authapp.
  • Ensure your phone's operating system is up to date and that notifications are enabled for the Authenticator app.

Step-by-Step Setup:

  1. Sign in to Your Drury Account: Open your web browser and navigate to https://webmail.drury.edu. Enter your standard Drury credentials (username and password).

  2. Initiate MFA Setup: Once logged in, you will be prompted to set up Multi-Factor Authentication. Choose the option to use an "app for authentication" (or similar wording).

  3. Scan the QR Code:
    • Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
    • Tap on "Add account" (usually represented by a '+' icon).
    • Select "Work or school account".
    • Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code displayed on your computer screen.

  4. Approve Test Notification: A test sign-in request will be sent to your phone. Open the Authenticator app and approve this request. This confirms the successful link between your account and the app.

Important Tips for Authenticator App Use:

  • Keep Updated: Regularly update your phone's operating system and the Microsoft Authenticator app to benefit from the latest security features and improvements.
  • New Device Protocol: If you get a new mobile device, remember to update your MFA settings immediately to transfer your authenticator account and ensure uninterrupted access.
