Applies to: macOS computers only. See our Windows guide if you're on a Drury-managed PC.
Drury's printers are shared through a central print server. On a Mac, you'll connect to it using the printer's network address rather than a desktop shortcut.
Before you begin, you'll need the exact name of the printer you want to connect to (for example, Alumni_Canon_C256F or Admissions_DataTeamHP). Printer names usually reference the department and the printer model or location.
Not sure of the name? Check the label on the printer itself, ask a coworker who already prints to it, or contact the Help Desk and we'll confirm it for you.
Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner and select System Settings, then click Printers & Scanners in the sidebar.
Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax... button (it may appear as a small + button depending on your macOS version).
In the window that opens, click the Default icon in the toolbar at the top.
The steps here depend on the printer's manufacturer:
HP printersmacOS should automatically detect and select Secure AirPrint in the Use dropdown. If it does, just click Add and you're done — no additional driver install needed.
Xerox and Canon printersXerox and Canon printers require you to install a driver before adding the printer:
Back in Printers & Scanners, the printer should now appear in your list. Select it, click Printer Queue..., and use the Printer menu to print a test page.
A Keychain Access password prompt will appear. Enter your Drury username and current Drury password. Check the box to remember this password.
Print job stuck with "Hold for Authentication" in the print queueThis usually happens if you've changed your Drury password since you last printed. Here's how to fix it:
This updates the saved credentials in Keychain Access and should allow the job to print immediately.
Don’t see the right printerMake sure you're connected to the Drury network (on-campus Wi-Fi or wired connection). This isn't reachable off-campus without VPN.
