Configure Access to RemoteApp and Desktop Connections

Applies to: Windows computers only

This guide walks you through connecting to Drury's RemoteApp and Desktop service so your remote applications launch automatically, without having to sign in every time.

1 Open Control Panel

Open the Start menu and type "Control Panel" in the search bar, then click the Control Panel icon from the search results.

2 Open RemoteApp and Desktop Connections

In the Control Panel, change the view to Large icons, then find and click RemoteApp and Desktop Connections.

3 Set Up a New Connection

In the "Access RemoteApp and desktops" window, enter the connection URL below and click Next. When prompted, sign in with your Drury credentials.

https://remote.drury.edu/

Do not check "Remember me." Leave this box unchecked when you sign in to keep the connection secure.

4 Download and Open the RDP File

Once setup is complete, download the RDP file provided. In your download history, click Open to launch it. To skip this step in the future, select "Always open files of this type" when prompted.

Once this is set up, your remote apps will open automatically going forward — no need to sign in each time.

Troubleshooting

I don't see "RemoteApp and Desktop Connections" in Control Panel.

Make sure Control Panel is set to Large icons or Small icons view rather than "Category" — the option is hidden under Category view. If it's still missing, submit a ticket.

The RDP file didn't open automatically, or nothing happened when I clicked it.

Open your browser's download history and click the file directly, then choose "Always open files of this type" so future connections launch automatically. If the file won't open at all, submit a ticket.

It keeps asking me to sign in every time I open a remote app.

This usually means the connection wasn't saved correctly. Remove the connection from RemoteApp and Desktop Connections and repeat the setup steps above. If the problem continues, submit a ticket.

I recently changed my password and now the remote apps won't connect.

Your saved credentials need to be updated. Open Credential Manager (search "Credential Manager" or "Windows Credentials" from the Start menu), find the entry for DUREMOTEWEB.DRURY.EDU, click it to expand, select Edit, and enter your new password. If the entry isn't there or the problem continues, submit a ticket.
